Tidbits from the Next Big Thing — Fantastic Four: Three press conference with Jonathan Hickman and Tom Brevoort

• Hickman says that it’ll use “all of the elements” he’s been playing with in the title, to bring back characters like Namor and Galactus to the FF fold.
• “Without saying too much, it will be very difficult to publish a book called Fantastic Four when we only have three characters,” Brevoort says. “You can interpret that in a number of ways.”
• Brevoort says that “Three” will “shock, surprise, startle, probably outrage, but definitely will get people interested.”
• “Everything you think that we would never do will get done,” Brevoort says. “Hopefully, in a way you will find acceptable and enjoyable, in the same manner that for the longest time, people, myself included, would say, ‘You never want to bring Bucky back.’”
• The next question asked how ramifications of “Three” will be felt outside of the Marvel Universe. “I think after ‘Three’ you will see a Fantastic Four that’s much more integrated in the 616,” Hickman says, adding that one of his goals coming in to the book was to give the Fantastic Four a greater profile in the Marvel Universe.
• Hickman says that “Three” is Doom’s “reintroduction” to the world of Fantastic Four.
• Last question — “come this time next year, will there be a book called ‘Fantastic Four’”? The answer was surprisingly frank, from Brevoort; “No!”

I am kind of looking forward to this since I haven’t been excited about a FF story in a long time for anything beyond Doom or Namor, but I’m highly worried about who is gone. =(
